Last weekend I was invited to attend K. Renee’s Cash Calendar: 12-Month Marketing & Profit Plan event. Anytime you are invited to an event by K. Renee you show up and accept the invite with no hesitation. If you ever find that K. Renee is speaking at an event, if I were you I would not procrastinate on registering.
K. Renee is an Online Marketing and Profit Consultant and Author of Straight Out of Corporate. Within 3 years she built a six-figure consulting business helping entrepreneurs expand and sustain their businesses effortlessly by applying strategies and systems that generate revenue. Earlier this year, after working 12 years for a Fortune 50 telecommunications company as a sales and marketing leader.
K. Renee kicked off the Cash Calendar event with a powerful exercise. Everyone spent a few minutes identifying specific things that they would start doing, stop doing, and continue doing in 2017 that was related to their business marketing. This was a very much needed exercise because we tend to create goals each year and never conduct a self-reflection or an annual review of the current year. If you haven’t learned what’s been holding you back you will never reach your fullest potential.
Many attendees struggled with the fear of success, emotional barriers, and lack of consistency. This is very common amongst entrepreneurs, but when you are able to identify and recognize what’s truly preventing you from living the life you desire, you are more conscious to push through those barriers if you want to achieve the level of success that you want.
Here are 4 key takeaways to help you create your cash and marketing plan for 2017:
Keep Doing Things You Don’t Want To Do
You have to get out of your comfort zone if you want to be a successful entrepreneur. You have to do the things that make you uncomfortable because those exact things are what’s going to elevate you in business. You have to be visible and you have to take advantage of video content. You have to show up and show your face. People want someone they can trust and that they can relate to. Building relationships with your audience shows that you are capable of doing what you say you can do. Consider posting more video content and sharing free content on Periscope, Snapchat, and InstaStories to build your credibility.
Set Your Sales Goals For The Year
You can’t expect to make six figures if you have no idea what it takes to earn six figures. Set an annual sales goal and track it on a monthly basis by comparing your goal to your actuals. Just because you make six figures doesn’t mean that you will get to pocket all your sales income. When setting your sales goals be sure that you incorporate your fixed and variable expenses. Also, make sure that you include a breakdown of all the products and services you will be offering, the price of each item, and how many clients you need to book or products you need to sale in order to reach your overall sales goal.
Know Your Budget
You need to know how much money you have to work with for your marketing plan. Stop being scared to share your budget when someone asks you. If you don’t know how much money you are able to allocate to marketing then your business coach can’t help you with an effective plan. You won’t even be able to help yourself because you don’t know what your marketing budget is. Knowing your budget also allows the people that you are working with determine if they can help you or if they should be referring you to someone in their inner circle who fits more in your budget. If your budget is only $100, be honest and say that so that you aren’t wasting anyone’s time.
Don’t Get So Caught Up in Branding
Having a style guide and stellar branding is important, but the only goal in marketing is generating sales. Brand awareness with no sales doesn’t make you profitable. So don’t get so caught up in colors and fonts. Brand awareness and your message is more essential than color palettes.
As you finalize your goals, make sure that you are considering sales goals, forecasting, budgeting, marketing calendar, your products and promotions.
